Located on Historic Sand Island, the ​City of Bethlehem’s public tennis courts are truly unique. Sand Island features a clubhouse and eight lighted Har-Tru tennis courts with an underground watering system to keep the courts playing great. In addition to the courts, Sand Island sits in a picturesque setting with a view of Bethlehem's historic Steel Stacks and is in the middle of the Delaware and Lehigh National Heritage Sand Island trail. Simply put, Sand Island Tennis is one of Bethlehem's hidden gems.

Junior Programs

All clinics are broken into two-week sessions and are held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Both age groups A & B will focus on introducing tennis through basic tennis stroke development including rallying, serving, simple drills and tennis games, while further emphasizing motor skills and enhancing athleticism. Age group C is designed for high school level students thinking about competing or ready to compete in high school. The skills sets of this group will range from beginner to advanced with players divided based on ability. These sessions will also focus on foundational skills and athletic development. All clinics are staffed by USPTR certified coaches,  & current college tennis players.

Leagues

​Looking for a little friendly competition? We offer a variety of different leagues (singles, senior singles, doubles, senior doubles, and mixed doubles) to fit your skills and desires. All of our leagues are self-scheduled, meaning that players are responsible for contacting opponents and setting up matches once the contact sheet is distributed. 

The 2020 Sand Island Tennis League kicks off May 23, 2020 and will conclude on September 7, 2020 (The regular season will end 8/24). The Deadline to register is May 15, 2020. To register for this season's leagues, please complete the registration below and send to the City of Bethlehem!
